gas

so, gas is just bananas. just totally crazy. crazy stuff that drives (haha) me up the wall.

on my way back to l.a. from the poke, i stopped to fill up the tank. 3.49, by the way, for regular. so i give the lady my money, and then press the premium grade. oops. also, shit. 3.75. jesus christ.

anyway, i fill up what i can, and then take off, with my little car filled up with the premium stuff. cut to three days later, when i need more gas.

i have found a chevron station on western that offers the cheapest gas i've seen in l.a., cheaper even then the arcos. so, i started going there, thinking that at least the regular chevron is better then the regular arco, and thus better for my car. anyway, this station was packed as usual. i waited 15 minutes to get a spot. phew. i finally get there and see the sign that says they only have premium gas available - they were out of regular and mid-grade! CRAZY.

so, i filled up with premium again, this time at 3.37, which is still a better price than the regular in the poke. anyway. i spent almost $40 to fill up my tank, which is officially the most i've ever spent on gas. and i have a corolla! imagain what the fucking suv owners pay. i laugh in their faces for (a) choosing to drive a ridiculous car in the first place and (b) for how much extra money they have to spend to drive it.

anyway. my car is running so amazingly well on the premium gas, which i'm happy about, but bummed because now i feel like i can't give it the regular stuff anymore. i mean, it runs so smoooooooooothly. acceleration is perfect, and once i'm going...i'm going, and it's wonderful. damn. maybe i can try out mid-grade for awhile. or switch back and forth. hmmm.

gas prices are so insane that i will just stop complaining... i'm taking public transpo these days, and it's driving me insane.

i'm seriously considering mass transit, which in freakin' la is a bit of a big deal. i'm gonna look into getting some kind of road bike, and trying to find a place to store my car. it may just as well be worth it, plus I can lower my average annual miles on my car insurance!! yay. sort of.
